ALINUSWE KAMWELA, a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy(Hons) graduate from the University of Malawi – UNIMA, College of Medicine, Malawi.

Where are you currently working, and what does your job entail?

I am a retail/community pharmacist at Crest Pharmacy in Blantyre, Malawi. My job entails providing patient-centred care.

What are you most passionate about in your Pharmacy Practice?

Patient Education: I enjoy sharing insights about safe and rational medication use. I am particularly passionate about fighting Anti-microbial Resistance.

What do you love most about being a Pharmacist?

Being able to offer the value that I do to my community is priceless. Every moment a client says, “Thank you, I’m better, I’m healed” is priceless. I live for such moments.

What keeps you going as a Pharmacist?

The awareness that the knowledge I possess has the potential to save lives. It even pushes me to keep learning daily to serve my community to the best of my ability.

What’s that one thing you enjoy doing apart from being a Pharmacist?

Photography. I enjoy capturing emotions, so portraiture is my favourite genre. To that effect, I am the Founder and Creative Director of Habari Studios.

Do you have any advice for the young pharmacist?

Never stop learning. Never stop starting.
