Highlight your Career Progression. In addition to your Degree in Pharmacy, are there any certifications you have obtained, or are you currently pursuing any that you would like to mention?

My career as a pharmacist has evolved from an entry-level to a clinical role. I’ve received specialised training in Medication Therapy management and the Mckinsey Forward Programme. I currently serve in the leadership of the Young Pharmacists group PSK as the FIP Liaison.

What are you most passionate about in your Pharmacy practice?

My passion lies in ensuring patient well-being through personalised pharmaceutical care. I am dedicated to optimising medication therapy, fostering patient education, and contributing to a healthcare environment prioritising positive health outcomes.

What do you love about being a Pharmacist?

I love being a pharmacist because it allows me to directly impact people’s lives by ensuring the safe and effective use of medications. I find fulfilment in the continuous learning and the dynamic nature of the pharmaceutical field, where each day presents new challenges and opportunities to make a positive difference in the community.

What has been your most memorable experience in the profession, and what were your lessons from it?

One of my most memorable experiences in practice involved counselling a newly diagnosed diabetic patient on pharmacological management and lifestyle changes. By providing clear explanations, addressing questions, and offering practical tips for incorporating dietary modifications and exercise, I empowered the patient to take an active role in their health. Witnessing their increased confidence and understanding reflected pharmacists’ positive impact on patients’ lives beyond medication dispensing, reinforcing the importance of education and empathy in pharmacy practice.

What keeps you going?

The dynamic nature of the field, continuous learning, and the chance to adapt to evolving healthcare landscapes keep me motivated. Knowing I play a vital role in healthcare teams and contribute to the broader community’s health outcomes provides a deep sense of satisfaction. It drives my ongoing commitment to excellence in pharmacy practice.

In addition to being a Pharmacist, what else do you enjoy doing?

Beyond my role as a pharmacist, my heart lies in exploration through travel, the thrill of conquering new hiking trails, the fulfilment of making a positive impact through volunteering, and the escape into different worlds through the pages of a good book. Travelling allows me to experience diverse cultures, broaden my horizons, and unwind. Hiking provides physical exercise and a connection with nature that rejuvenates my spirit. Volunteering at a local community centre or on international missions brings a sense of purpose and fulfilment. Reading is a lifelong adventure that provides a sanctuary for the mind. These pursuits recharge me and enrich my perspectives, making me a more empathetic and well-rounded individual in both personal and professional realms.

What can you say to the young Pharmacist?

To the young pharmacist embarking on this rewarding journey, embrace each day as an opportunity for growth, learning, and positively impacting patients’ lives. Stay curious and open-minded, as pharmacy is dynamic and constantly evolving. Build strong relationships with colleagues, healthcare teams, and, most importantly, your patients. Seize opportunities for professional development, explore diverse aspects of pharmacy, and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone.
