PHARMACIST UNLIMITED

My day starts with me on the run, ever heard of the phrase hit the road? I think my mornings are like that.

How many refill patients do we expect today? Is my team ready for the day? Which supplies need replenishing? Oh my! Patient X never called me back about her blood pressure pills, we have X number of dropped calls on our customer service line, employee Y is disgruntled because they were asked to come to work on their off day. My girlfriend had a fever last night, how is she today? Mom needs money to do the harvest this year before the crops are destroyed in the fields by the rains…….

I am a pharmacist, a wearer of many hats, and a proud one at that. Today I was called in to assist in a dermatology consult. Child has these weird looking blister like pustules on their forearms, and the sole of their feet. They look like jiggers but given the pattern, highly unlikely. Daktari has been trying to figure it out and wants an extra pair of eyes to assess.

What’s the history?
1. A month or so since onset. Has been recurrent(on and off) 2. 4 year old 3. Itchy but not very painful except when they scratch too much and it bruises

Any member of the family affected?
Yes, the parents as well and the bros And they live in the same house and share beddings?
Yes

SCABEEEEEEES!! I shout.
It’s typical (write briefly about scabees and it’s eradication)

I am a pharmacist, through my day I realize each day that to limit myself to just dispensing is an utter waste of my skills and knowledge. And so each day I wake up, ready to use each bit of knowledge I have acquired to be impactful, today it was dermatology, tomorrow its gonna be heart disease case…..who knows.

I am a pharmacist, unlimited!
