What is your official name and title?

I am DAVIS OTUEGBE M.sc, a Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) graduate from Madonna University, River State, Nigeria.

Where are you currently working, and what does your job entail?

Currently an Associate Scientist at a Contract Research Group in the United States of America. My roles include:

  1. Performing a variety of routine to complex sample preparation and analysis procedures to quantitatively measure pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical compounds in various formulations and biological matrices.
  2. Following validated or experimental analytical procedures with periodic direct supervision.
  3. Responsible for reviewing and compiling results and data comparison against SOP acceptance criteria, methodology, protocol and product specifications.

What are you most passionate about in Pharmacy?

Being able to contribute to the community by educating them about good health care and how it can bring out positive outcomes in their lives.

What do you love most about being a Pharmacist?

Patient care and the various opportunities you get with this Degree. You can work in all parts of healthcare institutions. It is powerful, and I am a proud Pharmacist.

What keeps you going as a Pharmacist?

The ability to learn more and career growth. I grew from being a young man struggling to get my bachelor’s Degree into becoming a Master’s Degree holder in Pharmaceutical sciences with an emphasis in Industrial Pharmacy. That alone keeps me going, as it has been a journey of resilience.

What’s that one thing you enjoy doing apart from being a Pharmacist?

I love watching football—I am a big fan of Manchester United.

Do you have any advice for the young pharmacist?

Always be bold in reaching out to senior colleagues in the profession. Work on your resume, development skills, and laboratory skills. Join volunteering groups to be able to contribute to the community. Believe in your dreams, and never let anyone tell you you can’t achieve your goal. Most importantly, always pray.
