YOUR WISH IS MY COMMAND

I am sure you have encountered a bossy, rude or unbearable client a couple of times in your pharmacy practice. A client who barks out orders like their life depends on it or one who wants their every whim to be delivered.

Hell, this is a patient who will order a two-day dose of antibiotics, in which you gladly oblige (yeah, it’s that crazy) because you want to maintain the peace and have them off your case. The customer is always right. I may be faced with legal implications depending on how I deal with this patient.

I am just curious about how you get to handle a problematic patient? Do you call the manager or your supervisor to deal with the situation? What if you are solo, your own boss? Which conflict management strategy do you use?

By Dr. Ceftriaxone.
